Oh Hyun-gyu to play in Japan after Korea tour was canceled
Oh Hyun-gyu (22, Celtic) played in Japan after his Korea tour was canceled.
Celtic FC suffered a 4-6 reverse at the hands of hosts Yokohama Marinos in a friendly on their Japan tour at the Nissan Stadium in Yokohama on Monday.
Without their best players in the starting lineup, Celtic led 3-2 at halftime as Daizen Maeda scored a hat trick in the first half alone.
Yokohama were no slouches either. Lopez equalized 14 minutes into the second half, before Saneto pulled one back in the 21st minute.
Down a goal at 3-4, Celtic made a whopping nine substitutions in the 29th minute. Kyogo Furuhashi, the Scottish League’s top scorer with 27 goals, and Oh Hyun-gyu came on at the same time. Celtic then conceded two more goals to end the game 4-6.
With Oh in the lineup, Celtic completed the domestic season “treble” last year. Celtic had originally planned to face Hwang Hee-chan’s Wolverhampton in Suwon on July 26. However, the match was canceled at the last minute.
“The club had planned to play Premier League Wolverhampton in South Korea later this month, but the tour promoter was unable to meet a number of financial and logistical operations. After weeks of delays, the club has taken the difficult decision to terminate the contract and withdraw from the tour.”
Celtic recently added Yang Hyun-joon and Kwon Hyuk-kyu to their roster after Oh Hyun-gyu, making them the only club with three Korean players.
Celtic, which has four Japanese players, canceled the Korean tour but went ahead with the Japanese tour as scheduled. Celtic will travel to Saita for their second match against Gamba Osaka on Feb 22. 온라인카지노
