The LG Twins defeated the Kiwoom Heroes for their third straight win thanks to Kim Hyun-soo’s game-winning home run in the bottom of the eighth inning.

LG won 5-3 against Kiwoom in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Aug. 11.

With the three-game winning streak, 섯다 LG consolidated first place in the standings with a record of 59 wins, 2 draws, and 35 losses. They are one win away from 60. Kiwoom (42W3D60L), on the other hand, dropped their second straight game and remained in last place.

The teams were tied 3-3 through seven innings, but the balance was broken in the eighth.

LG loaded the bases on a leadoff single by Hong Chang-ki and a sacrifice bunt by Jung Joo-hyun, and Kim Hyun-soo came to the plate and took a five-pitch slider from Moon Sung-hyun for a two-run home run over the right field fence.

With the lead in hand, LG brought in closer Go Woo-seok in the top of the ninth to retire the next three batters to end the game. With his 10th save of the season, Ko became the sixth player in history to record 10 saves in five consecutive seasons.

The NC Dinos moved back into third place with a 7-3 win over the KT Wiz in Suwon.

With the win, NC improved to 50-1-44, dropping KT to fourth place (51-2-45) and moving into third place.

NC starting pitcher Shin Min-hyuk earned his fourth win of the season (5-0) with five innings of three-hit ball, two walks, four strikeouts and one earned run. Closer Lee Yong-chan earned his 18th save (3-2) with 1⅓ scoreless innings of relief.

The offense was led by Kwon Hee-dong, who had a two-run double with one out in the first inning. Jason Martin chipped in with four hits, two doubles, one home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.

KT, which was looking for its third straight win, saw its winning streak come to an end as starter Wes Benjamin struggled, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits with one walk and two strikeouts in five innings.

NC scored three runs in the first inning, one in the second, and one in the fourth.

KT got one run back in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Ahn Chi-young with runners on first and third, 온라인섯다 but Martin’s solo home run in the seventh tilted the game in NC’s favor.

KT scored two runs in the eighth, but could not get any closer, and NC added one more run in the ninth to secure the four-run victory.

The Samsung Lions defeated the SSG Landers 5-4 in Incheon.

With 41 wins, 1 draw and 56 points (0.423 winning percentage), Samsung leapfrogged the Hanwha Eagles (38 wins, 5 draws and 52 points, 0.422 winning percentage) from ninth to eighth place.

Second-place SSG improved to 53W1D41L and widened its gap to six games over leader LG. They are also three games behind NC.

Samsung starter David Buchanan left the game in no-decision after giving up two runs on nine hits in six innings, but he threw a whopping 127 pitches.

Jang Pil-joon, who faced one batter in the eighth inning, got the lucky save. Samsung’s closer Oh Seung-hwan pitched the ninth inning and struck out two to keep the game scoreless.

SSG’s closer Seo Jin-yong took the loss in the ninth after giving up one run on two hits and a walk.

The Lotte Giants cruised to a 7-1 victory over the KIA Tigers in Sajik.

With their second straight win, Lotte improved to 46-50 (7th place) and closed the gap on 6th place KIA (44-2-45) to 1.5 games.

LOTTE reliever Aaron Wilkerson pitched six innings of one-hit ball to improve to 2-0 on the season.

KIA starter Thomas Pannoni took the loss against Wilkerson, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits in five innings.

Meanwhile, the Doosan Bears defeated the Hanwha Eagles 11-4 in Daejeon. Doosan remained in fifth place with a 49-1 record, while Hanwha, which lost its fifth straight game in a row, 고스톱 dropped to ninth.
