Chung ‘intuitively’ wins men’s team gold at Hangzhou Archery Center
Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun, the “big brother” of Korean archery, visited the archery venue at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games to cheer on the “Taegeuk archers.
Chung, who also serves as president of the Korean Archery Association and president of the Asian Archery Federation, visited the archery range at the Fuyang Throat Sports Center in Hangzhou, China, on Saturday afternoon and watched the men’s team archery competition from a VIP seat along with vice chairmen Jang Young-sul and Han Kyu-hyung.
“Chairman Chung is visiting Hangzhou in between business trips to cheer on the athletes,” an official from the archery association said.
According to the federation, Zheng will watch the men’s team event in the afternoon and the men’s and women’s individual events in the morning on July 7.
He will also present awards in the men’s individual competition.
Earlier in the day, South Korea’s Lee Woo-seok (Kolon), Oh Jin-hyuk (Hyundai Steel) and Kim Jeduk (Yecheon County Office) defeated India in the final to win the team gold medal at the Asian Games for the first time in 13 years.
After the ceremony, Chung met with the athletes separately to congratulate them.
A smiling Chung said, “No, no, no,” as the athletes tried to hang up their gold medals.
Holding Kim Jeduk and Lee Woo-seok’s gold medals in both hands, Chung posed for a photo with the athletes.
The connection between archery and Hyundai Motor Company runs deep.
Hyundai Motor Group has been supporting the Korean Archery Federation for 38 years, from the inauguration of Chairman Emeritus Chung Mong-koo in 1985 to the current Chairman Chung Eui-sun, who has served five consecutive terms.
This is the longest period of sponsorship for a single sports organization in Korea.
In particular, Chairman Chung has shown his sincere love for archery by sharing meals with national archers training at the Jincheon Athletes’ Village and communicating with them in a casual manner. 파워볼분석
