Crystal Palace thrashed Aston Villa 5-0 in the final match of the 2023-24 English Premier League season at Selhurst Park in London, England, on Tuesday (Aug. 20). Mateta is at the peak of his goal-scoring powers, with a whopping 13 goals in his last 13 games. Interestingly, before the goal barrage began, Mateta had scored just six goals in 26 games across all competitions this season.
Mateta joined Palace on loan from Mainz 05 in Germany in 2021. He made the move to Palace full-time, but he was only a so-so striker.
However, he quickly became one of the Premier League”s most recognizable strikers. The reason for Mata”s resurgence was the presence of Oliver Glasner.
