‘Three in a row’ South Korea U-21s lose 0-1 to France…will look for first win of tournament with Morris Revels against Mexico on Nov. 11
South Korea’s U-21 national team took the lead in the second half against France U-21 but fell short.
The U-21 national team, led by Choi Jae-young (Sun Moon University), lost 0-1 to France in the third match of Group A of the Maurice Rebelo International Friendship Tournament in Aubagne, France, on Monday (Aug. 8).
The loss to France was South Korea’s third straight, 현금홀덤사이트 following losses to Saudi Arabia (0-2) and Ivory Coast (1-2).
South Korea started the game in a 4-4-2 formation. Kang Min-joon (Korea University), Hwang In-taek (GD Estoril Praia), Jeong Sung-woo (Sun Moon University), and Ahn Jae-min (FC Seoul) formed the back four, with Kim Dong-hwa (Sun Moon University) in goal. In the midfield, Jeon Yoo-sang (Jeonnam Dragons), Cho Jin-ho (FK Novi Pazar), Park Jae-sung (Sangji University), and Hong Yong-joon (Myeongji University). The front two were Lee Dong-yeol (Soongsil University) and Hong Ki-wook (Ajou University).
South Korea conceded a penalty kick midway through the first half, but goalkeeper Kim Dong-hwa saved it. However, in the 39th minute, France’s Alan Birginius scored to make it 0-1 at the half. South Korea took the initiative in the second half with a change of players, but were unable to find the winning goal.
The tournament, known locally as the Toulon Cup, will be held until Sept. 17. A total of 10 countries’ U20-23 teams are participating in the tournament, which is divided into two groups of five teams. The top two teams from each group will advance to the final, while the remaining teams will play a ranking match. Group B includes Ukraine, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, and Panama.
South Korea will play Mexico on Nov. 11 in the fourth round.
