Celltrion said Tuesday its autoimmune disease treatment Yuflyma will be available at Costco stores in the United States, allowing uninsured patients to purchase the drug at a lower price.

According to the biotech company, Yuflyma has been added to the Costco Membership Prescription Program and will be available at a lower price at Costco outlets. Yuflyma is a biosimilar of the blockbuster biopharmaceutical Humira, a medication used to treat a variety of inflammatory conditions.

The Costco Member Prescription Program is a discount card program that allows eligible Costco members to purchase prescription drugs at 한국을 reduced prices at Costco outlets and other participating pharmacies. Celltrion stated that Yuflyma will be priced 85 percent lower than the original version of Humira.

According to the U.S. National Center for Health Statistics, approximately 27.1 million people in the U.S. were uninsured as of the first quarter of 2024. These individuals face significant limitations in accessing treatments, as they must purchase expensive medications without any reimbursement support.

Uninsured patients who are Costco members can now purchase the lower priced version of Humira, Yuflyma, at an 85 percent discount, as well as getting further discounts through Costco, significantly improving their access to high-quality treatments, Celltrion said.

“We are pleased to partner with Costco, the largest warehouse club and third-largest retailer in America,” said Francine Galante, vice president of market access at Celltrion USA.

“We are committed to increasing patient choice through access to biosimilars. The inclusion (of Yuflyma) to the Costco Member Prescription Program will expand patients’ treatment options and help reduce healthcare costs.”
