Korean sport climbers Seo Chae-hyun and Jeong Ji-min (North Face, Seoul City Hall) won bronze medals at the second round of the 2024 International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Cup.
Seo Chae-hyun won the bronze medal in the women’s Lead World Cup final held in Wujiang, China on the 14th (local time) by recording 43+, following Janja Garnbret (Slovenia, Top) and Lou Zulu (China, 44+).

Previously, Seo Chae-hyun placed 14th in the semifinals and did not advance to the finals in the bouldering first round of the World Cup, which ended in Keqiao, China on the 10th.
Seo Chae-hyun said through her management company All That Sports, “I feel a little regretful that I couldn’t use my full strength in today’s game, but I’m so grateful and happy that I was able to get on the podium at the first lead World Cup this season.”
He added, “Now I’m focusing on the Olympic qualifiers and showing an even better performance.”

Also, in the women’s speed division, Jeong Ji-min, bronze medalist in the speed relay at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, won the bronze medal.
Jeong Ji-min recorded her personal best time of 6.623 seconds in the 3rd and 4th place match, beating Poland’s Alexandra Karlukca (8.93 seconds) and took third place in the final.
Jeong Ji-min is the first Korean athlete to reach the podium in a World Cup speed event.
Meanwhile, the Korean men’s and women’s national team players are preparing for the Paris Olympic qualifiers to be held in Shanghai, China (May 15-19) and Budapest, Hungary (June 19-23) from May to June.
In the Paris Olympic qualifiers, there are 10 tickets each for the men’s and women’s combined (bouldering + lead) and 5 tickets each for the men’s and women’s speed games.
