Ko Tied for 3rd in 2R at LPGA Tour Canada 2 strokes off lead
Jin Young Ko is tied for third place after day two of the CPKC Women’s Open ($2.5 million purse) on the U.S. Women’s Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour.
Ko carded four birdies and two bogeys for a 2-under 70 in the second round of the tournament at the par-72, 6,709-yard Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, Canada, on Saturday.
At 5-under par 139, Ko is tied for third place with Yuka Saso (JPN). She is two strokes behind leader Megan Kang (USA).
Ko got off to a slow start with a bogey on the 10th (par-4), but rebounded with birdies on the 14th (par-4) and 16th (par-4).
In the second half, she birdied the 1st (par-5) and 5th (par-4) before finishing with a bogey on the 9th (par-4).
On the day, Ko hit 94.4% of his shots on the greens (17/18) and 85.7% of his shots in the fairway (12/14). However, the number of putts per round (33) was a bit high.
“It was easier to play than yesterday because there was no wind, but the course itself was not easy, so I tried to focus as usual,” Ko said after the match, adding, “The greens were a bit fast, so it was difficult to hit them.”
“My shot feeling is stable, so I want to play steady on the weekend,” he said, “I think it’s important to play with a bold mind and not worry too much about the result.”
Ko hasn’t finished in the top 10 in six tournaments since her second win of the season at the Founders Cup in May.
Kim had a birdie and three bogeys on the day for a 3-under 141 total and dropped to a tie for sixth.
Kim Hyo-joo, Lee Jeong-jeong (27), Lee Im-hyang and Choi Hye-jin are tied for 11th at 1-under 143.
Lee Jeong-jeong (34) is tied for 21st (even par) and Hae-ran Hae and In-ji Jeon are tied for 39th (2-over par).
Kang, who is in sole possession of the lead, carded a 6-under 66 on the back nine with five straight birdies on holes 11-15.
World No. 1 Lilia Boo (USA), who has won two majors this year, 먹튀검증 is tied for 21st at even-par 144.
